In the Miso Soup

In the Miso Soup - Ralph McCarthy, Ryū Murakami I rushed through the beginning of this book, super engaged, then somewhere right at the end I just lost interest. I think the explicit violence and gore turned me off, which is a bit strange because I normally don't have a problem with violence in books. I just couldn't figure out where the narrator was going with after the terrible things that happen in the middle of the book. His reactions to the violence seemed improbably and unrealistic. The writing is good and the narrator is very interesting. The author's descriptions of other people are very perspective and unique, I just couldn't seem to find the reason to finish the last 30 pages.
