A Northern Light
Didn't know about this book at first, but Mattie's voice was totally compelling. I know this is marketed as a young adult novel, but that seems only by virtue of the protagonist being a young girl. The subject matter and the depth of this novel are certainly suited for adult readers. I greatly enjoyed this book, in particular the way the author wove Mattie's dictionary words into the story. I even learned a few new words myself!
