I expected this book to be science fiction and was pleasantly surprised to find that it is science fiction but with beautiful characterizations. This is a book that might initially interest you with the its topic, harvesting clones in a future dystopian world, but will keep you reading by introducing you to Matt and the cast of characters around him. It takes a definite turn in tone and focus in the last third, I almost felt that I was reading a different book, but it remains enjoyable the entire time. I can understand how it won multiple awards because it skillfully weaves it strong themes into its fabric without being too heavy handed with the science fiction elements. There is a lot to think about in this book and it is well imagined.
