I was excited about this book, but disappointed. Maggie Steivafer had recommended it and I usually love the books that she recommends, but for some reason it just didn't catch me the way that her recommendations usually do. It was a good premise and there was a little teen romance in there, which I always like. There was also the magic, which was interesting and new, despite these things I almost put it down numerous times. I did finish it and the last 1/4 of the book picked up considerably with some fast paced action which helped it along. The beginning and middle were slow and sad I found. The main character Silla had a desperately sad existence and although she was well rewritten I couldn't really identify with her. So, I'm not really sure why but I didn't like it very much. Maybe others will have a better time with it!
